Although just a hunch, what I think is happening is that the iShow DAC has intelligent layer that attempts to optimize frames. When streaming ILF files, the value varies depending on whether the point is at the start or end of a file or other various things. When streaming ILDA files, the value is always 0. There is a special byte in the stream for each point that places some value on the point. I also looked at the contents of the files as they were streamed to the DAC.

iShow comes with a bunch of ILF files but I am not sure if you can create your own. When using ILF files, the images seem to draw faster. I also noticed that the circle was drawn as it exists in the file, not like it should be drawn. I bumped up the speed to the max the software and DAC supports which is 60000pps but it was still drawing slower than other DACs at 30000pps. For example, when I displayed the ILDA test pattern with iShow set at 30000 pps it was drawing at what a normal DAC would look like at 3000pps.

I noticed that the ILD files are displayed much more slowly than with a normal DAC.

The ILF files are some proprietary iShow format. I found that there are two types of images supported by the application and DAC. This was using the version 2.3 DAC and software. I have been working with the iShow DAC and the iShow software over the last few days to see if I can improve how the images are displayed in Spaghetti.
